Women, Couples, and EMDR Therapist in Overland Park, KS

Ready to start living again?

Right now, you may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and hopeless. You could feel stuck about how to find yourself again. You just want to feel better and know that it will all be okay.  I get it. Let’s navigate your challenges together and help bring you the peace, hope and future you desire.

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves. We must die to one life before we can enter another.”

— Anatole France

Hi! I’m Karen.

And I am so glad you found your way here.

I work with women and couples who are going through difficult life transitions. They have lost hope in the future they dreamed.

I don’t believe in slapping a Band-aid on pain. Or repeating affirmations. Let’s dig deeper for lasting change. If your past experiences keep you feeling overwhelmed and stuck, I can help you process those with EMDR therapy. While I won’t push you to difficult places too quickly, I will challenge you to consider possibilities for yourself.

Let’s work together so you can move forward.

My Services

What it’s like to work with me

Maybe you’ve tried to press through this on your own. Or maybe you’ve gotten some help from Tik-Tok. Oor you may have tried therapy before, but you only got so far.  I am an active therapist in the process, helping you to discover what works and what you really want. By digging deeper, we can discover alternate options and help you change your current narrative.

I’ve been through hard stuff, too, so I know how therapy can help.  I have deep compassion for those who struggle and have lost hope. Sometimes our dreams are shattered, and we wonder if there is any reason to hope again. . . if life will ever feel normal, let alone enjoyable.

I know it can be hard to think about starting therapy. Talking to someone you don’t know about the most vulnerable parts of your life can be uncomfortable, even scary.  My clients describe me as non-judgmental, easy to connect with, gentle but direct.  I won’t be finding ways to add to your already heavy burdens. My goal is to create an atmosphere where you feel supported and encouraged, while providing tools and feedback to help you sort through all of your difficult experiences.

I continue to benefit from my own therapy: to help me and to help you. I look forward to joining you on your journey.

My values as a therapist…

  • Authenticity

I show up as my true self and invite you to do the same. What you see is what you get from me. I won’t have a hidden agenda. We can do the best work when we don’t hide our messy parts. I can admit when I don’t know or am wrong.

  • Vulnerability

I’ve been where you are, and I’ve had my own share of growth experiences. I may share from my own life experiences and observations as appropriate. I don’t get rattled very easily, so please share all your experiences: the good, the bad, the ugly.

  • Curiosity

I want to know about you and how you experience the world, so I will ask you a lot of questions. I am always curious about the humanness in all of us. I will also ask you to reflect curiously about yourself. That’s how we grow.

  • Respect

I believe my client knows best what they need and want and can make the best decisions for themselves. I will always respect whatever decisions you make for your life. No judgment.

  • Growth

What is therapy if it isn’t about growing ourselves and landing at a better version of ourselves? But growth isn’t always comfortable. I’ll help you feel more confident going to hard-to-reach places. Let’s grow together.

  • Competency

I’m not perfect, and I don’t expect you to be either. If I’m unsure about a particular issue we encounter, I will admit my limitations. I’ll diligently do my homework to give you the best care.

You can thrive in this next season of life.
